Australia, Canada, the UK, and more are getting Instagram creator subscriptions

Meta announced today that it will offer Instagram subscriptions to eligible creators in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, and the UK in the coming weeks. Meta introduced US Instagram subscriptions in January 2022.

Instagram subscriptions let creators sell exclusive posts, Live videos, Stories, reels, highlights, and more. Subscribers receive a badge that distinguishes them in comments and creators’ inboxes.

Instagram subscriptions are available to 18-year-old creators with over 10,000 followers. Exclusive content is priced monthly by creators. Depending on how much creators value their content, there are eight price points from $0.99 to $99.99 per month.

Subscriptions let creators earn monthly income from fan support. Meta will expand Instagram subscriptions globally in the coming months.

“With Instagram subscriptions, you can develop deeper connections with your most engaged followers and grow your recurring monthly income by giving subscribers access to exclusive content and benefits, all within the same platform where you interact with them,” Meta wrote in a blog post. “We will invest in tools that help creators earn money and share more updates in the coming months.”

Meta introduced Instagram subscriptions in 2020 after launching them on Facebook. Facebook Pages in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, UK, and US can subscribe.

Not only Instagram allows creators to charge fans for exclusive content. This year, TikTok introduced “Series,” a paywall feature for eligible creators. Series lets creators sell premium content collections. One Series can have 80 20-minute videos.

Twitter lets users subscribe to creator tweets. Creators set subscription prices like Instagram and Instagram.
