Bastion provides complete cybersecurity for small businesses

Bastion, a French startup founded in October 2022, simplifies cybersecurity for small businesses. The Palantir-founded company has raised $2.8 million.

Bastion wants to be your only cybersecurity subscription. Software-as-a-service bundles several cybersecurity products.

First, Global Founders Capital, Kima Ventures, Motier Ventures, and business angels Denis Duverne, Joshua Motta, Renaud Deraison, and Gaëlle Olivier invested in the company..

Palantir co-founders Arnaud Fournier, Drizard, Duc, and Costé were already working on cybersecurity. Some were on a small cybersecurity team that excluded governments and public administrations. One managed anti-fraud services for large banks and insurers.

“Companies we talk with tell us: ‘We have an insurance broker, an accountant, why would we have multiple cybersecurity products?’” said co-founder and CEO Arnaud Fournier.

In a big city, use three locks to secure the wheels and bike to a pole. Thus, your bike is nearly impossible to steal.

A U-lock will secure it better than most bikes. And Bastion.

Bastion’s ideal customer wants to make sure their company is safe and doesn’t have a major vulnerability that could cause problems later.

Four Bastion modules exist. The startup starts with phishing simulations because employees handing out credentials causes many security issues. Bastion faces Riot in this training module.

Second, Bastion scans infrastructure and web applications to minimize your attack surface. The company provides configuration fixes.

Third, Bastion scans and protects employee laptops. “We provide an EDR solution, which is a sort of improved antivirus tool with a team that looks at what’s happening in real time,” Fournier said. Endpoint detection and response is EDR. Bastion uses a white-label EDR for this product.

Finally, Bastion’s fourth module monitors incoming emails for companies. Clients can now forward suspicious emails to confirm their legitimacy. The startup also wants to help you filter incoming emails so they never reach your employees.

“Some of these products were very expensive for what they offered. “We use open-source building blocks or re-build 80%,” Fournier said.

Bastion’s suite costs €10 per employee per month. Some companies can subscribe to part of Bastion’s services, though it’s expensive.

The company will not sell directly to small businesses. Instead, it works with outsourced security firms, banks, insurance companies, and others.

Bastion plans to build a network of partners that help small and medium businesses and sell Bastion to their customers in the coming months. New features and product improvements are inevitable.
