Users can now manually revert to the “old” TweetDeck.
This may not be possible for long.
The “TweetDeck version” option in users’ settings lets those forced onto the new TweetDeck revert.
From the edge
Twitter has been testing a TweetDeck refresh for years, but users who opted in could opt out if they didn’t like it (which was most people). Last October, Elon Musk entered the fray and pushed to monetize through subscriptions and premium features, raising concerns about TweetDeck, a Twitter application and dashboard for power users to manage multiple Twitter accounts.
Last week, Twitter changed read-limits, breaking TweetDeck for millions of users, who were forced onto the new version with no obvious way to opt out. Over the weekend, some users reported seeing an option to revert back to the old TweetDeck, which appears to have been returned to the settings menu for manual change.
However, TweetDeck will soon only be available to paying users, and it’s unclear if they’ll be able to choose between the old and new versions.
Enjoy TweetDeck’s return for now.
