On X, formerly Twitter, Elon Musk said headlines will be shown in preview cards with URLs again after removing titles last month.
Musk announced on X that a URL Card update will display the title in the upper portion. He didn’t provide a rollout timeline or card example.
The Tesla CEO announced in August that X would remove URLs from preview titles for “improved aesthetics.” After the announcement, the company stopped making headlines in October.
This change required users to click or tap the URL card to read the title or headline. Publishers wrote their own headlines on images and posted the link separately or included the headline in the generated preview card image to avoid this change.
This may make publications easier and not work on custom formats, but it depends on the new card layout.
After Musk’s antisemitic comments, Apple, Disney, and Comcast halted advertising on X for weeks. Paris Hilton’s 11:11 Media ended its partnerships with social media companies on Tuesday, weeks after signing them.
Musk sued Media Matters for defamation this week. This followed the news organization’s claim that IBM and Apple ads appeared next to hateful content.
