Apple’s iOS 9 Beta Reveals Some Exciting New Features

If you want to get your hands on Apple’s iOS 9, now is the time. Many have found it as an insightful way to figure out the new features.

To download the beta, you have to head on over to beta.apple.com. From there you’ll be installing the “consumer beta version” of iOS 9, where you’ll have to log in with your Apple ID. Once you select iOS 9, you can click on the “Getting Started” button. After selecting the specific device, the site will give you a series of instructions on what to do with said specific device. I do suggest leaving some space open on your device, as the beta is a 213 megabyte installation.

Let’s go through some of the features. Engadget listed a few of them including the new Slide Over menu (exclusive only to the iPad Air, Air 2, Mini 2, and Mini 3. To activate this on your Apple tablet, you swipe over to the right edge of the screen, you’ll be given a vertical list of Apple apps. There’s also a new app switcher, that “layers cards on top of each other so you can see more of them from the get-go.”

What will be pleasing to some Apple customers is that Apple Maps has been improved greatly. Aside from it getting a physical makeover, the new Apple Maps includes “transit directions.” For people who live in the city, this will greatly help you.

Despite the wonderful new features, there comes the fear of your Apple device being bricked. It would be wise to download the beta onto a secondary Apple device (if you have one), or better yet, be prepared to replace it. As the Wired would conclude, “don’t say we didn’t warn you.” For those who have downloaded it, what are your thoughts on it? Let me know in the comments below.
