Sony’s New Partnership With Twitch Expands Twitch Availability

Sony has announced on their blog that they’re partnering with Twitch to give their tablet users access to the popular app (which has over 100 million users). And you may ask yourself, which tablets? Well Sony readers, if you own the Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4, Xperia Z4v, or Xperia Z4 tablets, you’re in luck.

Now, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Sony would unveil this app for their mobile users. After all, Twitch exists on the PS4 (not on the PS3 unfortuntately), and since Sony has a heavy influence in the gaming industry, the app bends to their advantage.

But the decision to release the app on the Xperia seems to be popular among Sony employees. According to Carl-Fredrik Mårtensson, Senior Business Development Manager at Sony Mobile Communications, “Partnering with Twitch to integrate live broadcasting directly in our latest flagship devices represents a fun, social experience for Xperia’s Android gamers.” He added that, “Our users now have the capability to stream content, access and interact with the world’s leading gaming community directly from their device.”

And with almost 35 million installs, Sony believes that having the ability to broadcast Android games via the tablet, “is set to further enhance users’ mobile gaming experience.”

At the same time, the growing popularity of the app will certainly be a boost to Sony’s mobile department. In fact, it may even expand Twitch’s community, especially with the millions. In lieu of the partnership, Brooke Van Dusen, the Director of Business Development at Twitch believes that by, “partnering with an innovator like Sony Mobile to enable the smartphone broadcasting of Android games on their Xperia devices, we are able to ensure our community has more avenues to embrace their passion.”

If you’re interested in downloading the app, head on over to Google Play and download it. While you wait for the installation, what are your thoughts on it? Let me know in the comments below.
