Dell’s XPS 15 Available Starting October 8

Dell figured that the existing XPS line of laptops was not good enough for its customers, so they decided to further improve them. Although the original models were already quite impressive, we salute the new, improved versions. The main changes consist in adding faster processors, and packing more storage. Fortunately, this doesn’t seem to affect the Dell XPS 15’s thin design though. It remains the same attractive device users loved when it first came out.

The body of the XPS 15 laptop is still made of carbon fiber and aluminium, which enable Dell to deliver extremely thin and light devices. Dell claims that its XPS 15, due to its approximately 4 pounds weight and 11-17 mm thickness has the smallest footprint of any 15-inch notebook. And they are probably right. The XPS 15 also received a new display. It now features an Infinity Edge display, having practically invisible bezels. Dell euipped its XPS 15 with a 4K resolution display. Dell also claims that the XPS 15’s display can achieve 100 percent minimum Adobe RGB, so the image quality is higher than ever. The display is also glossy, but for those who prefer a matte display, there is also a non- touch, matte display version available with HD resolution.

Under the hood users will find Intel’s latest Skylake processor. Depending on the chosen configuration, this can vary from Core i3 all the way up to Core i7. The XPS 15 includes up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of PCle SSD storage. Although it is not exactly a gaming notebook, the XPS 15 was added a added an optional Nvidia GDDR5 GPU. Those who want a higher quality video experience can opt for the Nvidia GTX 960M graphics card. Dell also added a Thunderbolt 3 and USB Type- C port to its XPS 15, for connecting peripherals or simply for charging the device.

As for the battery of the XPS 15, depending on the chosen configuration, it can offer up to 17 hours of battery life, which is pretty impressive. Of course, not every configuration will last that long. The Core i7 with 4K display for example will only offer up to 10 hours of battery life, the maximum 17 hours can only be achieved by the Core i7 with HD display. This means that you can choose either the 4K display, for better image quality, or the non- touch HD display model for longer battery life.

The XPS 15 seems to be both beautiful and powerful. Since there are so many options to configurate the XPS 15, probably the vast majority of customers could find a model that best suits their needs. The XPS 15’s price starts at $999, and is available in the stores starting 8 October.
