iPhone 6c – the comeback of the 4″ screen could be right around the corner

The iPhone 6c is rumored to be Apple’s next smartphone with a smaller screen than the current iPhone 6s and with a smaller price tag. Smartphones have reached enormous sizes, today’s flagships start at 5″ and can easily reach 6″. The reason was that a lot of users wanted a intermediate device, something between a smartphone and a tablet, thus the phablet was born. The phablet is a very eye catching device, it’s big screen with high resolution makes the interaction with it a very pleasant experience.

Ironically, the same reason that made phablets desired is also the reason why some people avoid them. They have become so large that in many cases it’s uncomfortable, difficult or even impossible to fit them in a pocket. At first Apple wasn’t that keen on following this trend and kept making devices that could be easily handled with one hand, aprox 4″. That changed when Apple launched the iPhone 6 (4.7″) and the iPhone 6 Plus (5.5″). With the launch of the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S and 6s Plus Apple tried to win back the clients they lost to different Android smartphones with big screens.

Ming-Chi Kuo believes that the 4″screen will make a comeback and Apple will lead this trend with the iPhone 6c. iPhone 6c will be a good alternative for costumers who are looking for a single hand device with good performance. It’s true that a smaller size will reduce the iPhone’s 6c entertainment and gaming capabilities. Kuo has hit the mark with previous speculations, thus specialists are inclined to take his words seriously.

Going only on rumors and deduction, a few theories have risen on this subject. The most common version is that the iPhone 6c will have a metal body. The basis for this is the fact that the 5s has sold better then the 5c because of the metal design. Chances are that the iPhone 6c will be an upgraded version of the 5c. To make iOS 9 or possibly 10 run smooth on the iPhone 6c, Apple might adopt the A9 SoC. If the rumors are true and the iPhone 6c will be marketed as a budget phone, then it will lack a few features found on the current flagships. Kuo thinks that 3D Touch will not be present in the future 4″screen iPhone.

At this point it’s still anybodies guess on how will the iPhone 6c look like or if it will even become reality. I personally believe that there still is a great demand for a single hand smartphones and Apple, or any other manufacturer, would be wise to invest in that market.
