Nintendo Will re-Release the NES

Nintendo launched the Pokemon Go in partnership with Niantic and The Pokemon Company a few days back, managing to raise their shares by a  staggering 56% in just one week. But this is not the end of the game maker’s comeback. On Thursday the company announced that they will re-release their first, and probably most popular game console, the Nintendo Entertainment System, aka NES. Those who were born in the 1980s definitely remember the console, but this time around the classic will look a little different. Although the design remained mostly the same, in order to keep its vintage feel, the collector’s edition will be a miniature version of the originally released one.

There is no need for users to search for their game cartridges in the attic, the new version will come with 30 pre-installed games, including Donkey Kong, Mega Man 2, Super Mario Bros., Tecmo Bowl and The Legend of Zelda. It may be a collector’s game console, but the upcoming NES won’t cost a small fortune. According to Engadget, the device will only cost $59.99. The package will include an HDMI cable, an AC adapter (only in North America), and, of course, an NES classic controller.

The device doesn’t offer internet connection, so users won’t be able to download any additional games to the console. However, the Classic Controller will be compatible with Wii Remote, allowing users to play downloaded NES games on a Wii or Wii U. For some users, the fact that they won’t be able to download any additional games to the mini NES console could be a turnoff, but those who really want the re-invented game console will probably not mind that they have to stick to the 30 pre-installed games. Additional controllers will also be available for $9.99.

According to reports, Nintendo will release the mini NES starting November 11, so it’s safe to assume that it will be on the list of the most popular gadgets to purchase in the holiday season. It is suitable both for kids and adult who would like to relive their childhood or adolescence. The price of the console is not that high, so Nintendo might just maximize their revenue this year. It definitely is a great year for the Japanese company with the success of their latest mobile game, the Pokemon Go.
