The space tourism industry is expected to grow significantly over the next ten years, but corporations still need to do more to make the trip exciting. It’s true that you are traveling through space on a hydrogen-powered fireball at a speed of about 28,000 kilometers per hour (17,000 miles per hour), but humans are not known for their long attention spans.
Fortunately, that is taken care of by the addition of a “party mode” to NASA’s Orion capsule for the ongoing Artemis I mission. The astronauts on board will be able to activate the RGB lights in full disco mode with their built-in Callisto voice assistant (or Amazon Alexa in this scenario) whenever they are tired of the breathtaking views and high levels of danger.
Since it wasn’t the first thing that came to the minds of earlier rocket engineers, the Orion capsule will be the first to offer such novel illumination alternatives.
Watch the engineer ask Alexa to enter “party mode” in the video below. It’s obvious product placement, but because it’s a disco in space, we’ll let it slide.

Hilariously, the Lockheed Martin Space account is now taking color requests for the capsule, which can be found on their Twitter.
