Logitech is launching its cloud-gaming handheld console in Europe. Logitech G Cloud software updates continue after this release.
The Logitech G Cloud will cost €359 or £329 in the U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland from May 22 to June 22. It usually sells for $299 in the US, but it costs $349.
Europeans get up to six months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (with Xbox Cloud Gaming), one month of Nvidia GeForce Now (Priority subscription tier), and one month of Shadow PC.
In September 2022, Logitech announced the Logitech G Cloud, a $350 portable Android console. The $299 Switch can’t play Zelda. PC games aren’t portable, like the $399 Steam Deck.
The device name is the answer. The Logitech G Cloud is made for cloud gaming. Nvidia GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming are pre-installed. Logitech states on its website that its console “requires a cloud subscription service sold separately to work as intended.”
Remotely play with the Logitech G Cloud. Use your Xbox or PlayStation as a second screen to play outside the living room. It can also stream PC games.
Shadow is paired
Gamepad controls surround the touchscreen on the Logitech G Cloud. It has enough computing power for cloud gaming services, but nothing more.
The Logitech G Cloud lacks an APU, a lot of storage, and a fan. Instead, you get a nice 1080p 7-inch display, a microSD card slot, a USB-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, speakers, microphones, and all the buttons a modern gamepad should have.
The Logitech G Cloud has a mid-range Qualcomm system on a chip (the Snapdragon 720G), 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, Bluetooth 5.1, and WiFi 5 support—WiFi 6 would have been nice.
The Logitech G Cloud, which I reviewed in October, is my favorite gaming controller. I especially liked the Logitech G Cloud with Shadow PC, a cloud computing service that lets you use a high-end PC in a nearby data center.
Install any Steam game and play it flawlessly on the couch with this setup. The Logitech G Cloud weighs 463g, 30% less than the Steam Deck. It’s calm. The best part is that the remote server handles all intensive computing tasks, so battery life isn’t an issue.
In recent months, Logitech has released software updates with new features like virtual button mapping for touch-based mobile games, sensitivity and dead zone customization for analog sticks and L2/R2 triggers, and official support for Shadow PC.
Shadow PC will be pre-installed on the Logitech G Cloud soon, and Shadow supports the built-in controller.
