ChatGPT: Everything about the AI-powered chatbot

OpenAI’s text-generating chatbot, ChatGPT, has gone viral. Over 92% of Fortune 500 companies use a behemoth tool to increase productivity by writing essays and coding with brief text prompts for more general uses.

Although ChatGPT has a negative aspect, AI tools are here to stay. ChatGPT boasts 100 million weekly active users since its introduction over a year ago, and OpenAI is investing extensively in it.

The company is not investing in former CEO Sam Altman’s leadership after a weekend that presented and dispelled the possibility of his return after a sudden firing on November 17 after the board stated they had lost confidence in him. OpenAI’s CTO, Mira Murati, was interim CEO, but Twitch co-founder Emmett Shear took over after a hectic weekend.

Prior to the leadership crisis, OpenAI held its first developer conference, DevDay, on November 6. It introduced GPT-4 Turbo, a multimodal API, and a GPT store where users can design and sell custom GPT versions at the conference.

GPT-4, which writes more fluidly and fluently, is mostly available to ChatGPT subscribers. Bing Chat on Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and Safari lets you access GPT-4 for free. GPT-4 and OpenAI DevDay announcements aside, OpenAI recently opened ChatGPT to the internet for all users. Users can generate text prompts and pictures in ChatGPT using DALL-E 3.

ChatGPT product upgrades and releases, from the latest to the latest, have been updated throughout the year. For further questions, see our ChatGPT FAQ.

The letter says:

Modern AI systems are now human-competitive at broad tasks[3], so should we allow robots saturate our communication channels with propaganda and untruth? Should we automate all jobs, even rewarding ones? Should we create alien minds that could outnumber, outwit, and replace us? Should we risk losing civilization management? Unelected tech leaders should not make such decisions. We should only develop powerful AI systems if we know they will be beneficial and safe.
