Almost all of the major tech companies offer some kind of promotions to their customers in the months following the release of new devices. This year even Apple offers a $50 off promotion for their Apple Watch when purchased with a new iPhone. But the active promotion of Samsung does feel a little bit like it is an act of despair. Back in April, Samsung released the Galaxy S6 Edge along with the Galaxy S6 in an effort to broaden their smartphone variety. However, there’s been an issue brewing with the Galaxy S6 Edge since it’s release. This issue revolves around it’s wireless charging capabilities, where it seems to work for some and cause distress for others.

With Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge sales faltering, it would be hard to imagine them benefiting from their losses. However, out of the mess they’ve created, Samsung has potentially won themselves the virtual reality market with the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Their VR headset, the Gear VR Innovator, is relatively cheap and can be used in conjunction with the Note 4 and the Galaxy S6. Will this be enough for them to recover from their previous mistakes?

The Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge have been out for a little while, and we are getting some interesting reports about the response.
Industry sources from Korea report that the sales of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge are much higher than anticipated, with supply now unable to keep up with demand. Currently the S6 Edge accounts for approximately 50% of all Galaxy S6 model shipments worldwide. In Korea the S6 and S6 Edge pre-orders reached 300.000 units, this could possible put it on track to become the most popular Galaxy phone yet.
