Live “TikTok Trivia” game to award $500K

Today, TikTok announced “TikTok Trivia,” a 5-day live trivia game for U.S. users 18 years or older to win a share of a $500,000 prize pool by answering multiple-choice questions about beauty, lifestyle, music, and sports.

Next week’s TikTok Trivia runs from February 22 to 26. TikTok Trivia will have two hour-long live sessions on the first three days. The first 12-question session will start at 8 p.m. ET. Winners split $30,000. Winners split $70,000 in the second session at 9 p.m. ET.

Special “Survival Rounds” will have increasingly difficult questions. Last place will split $100,000. February 25–26 are survival rounds.

Lionsgate and “John Wick Chapter 4” present the experience, so users will see “John Wick” trivia questions and “surprises and integrations,” according to today’s announcement. “John Wick Chapter 4” debuts March 24.

@TikTok on TikTok LIVE hosts live trivia sessions. To win prize money, users must attend trivia sessions on time and answer all questions correctly.

TikTok recommends livestreaming creators after each trivia session. The short video app now requires 18-year-olds to livestream.

James Henry, who hosted For You’s “You’ve been scrolling for way too long” videos, hosts TikTok Trivia. Henry has 4.2 million TikTok followers.

I’m excited to bring game shows and trivia to TikTok Live. “TikTok Trivia can bring people together, creating an electrifying atmosphere filled with excitement and a shared sense of community,” said Henry.

Many TikTok users, including “John Wick” fans and HQ Trivia fans, will be intrigued by the new trivia experience. HQ Trivia closed 2020.

LIVE videos may get minigames from TikTok. Another report suggests the company may be seeking U.S. partners for live shopping.
