LG G5 – rumors, specs, release date

The year didn’t even end and tech enthusiasts already talk about the 2016 flagship smartphones. The LG G5 is one of the first devices rumored to be launched next year, and we might see it as soon as February according to LGG5me. This is a bit of a surprise since LG usually launches its first flagship of the year in the second quarter. According to the same source, this time around the South Korean company will launch its device’s Pro version in the second quarter of the year and will release the LG G5 earlier than usual.

The same source states that the LG G5 will feature a 5.6-inch IPS LCD screen with 1440 X 2560 pixels resolution and 525ppi display density. The device will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and we might even see the first metallic LG smartphone. It’s great news that LG is ditching the plastic and plans on delivering a truly premium smartphone, but we’ll still have to wait and see whether the rumors are true or not. It was also said that the new flagship smartphone will be a thinner, more beautiful device, so we are eager to see it in official photos.

The 2016 LG flagship will probably be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset and an Adreno 520 GPU. The G5 will most likely include 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB internal storage with the possibility to further extend the storage by up to 200GB via the microSD card slot, so it should be fast and efficient. All this power needs a good battery to ensure a reasonable battery life, and according to LGG5me, it will have a 4000mAh one, which would be able to keep the smartphone going for more than a day. Other people believe that it could be even a 4100mAh battery, but so far we don’t have any official information, so everyone’s guess is as good as the other’s.

As far as cameras go, a 20MP or a 21MP sensor is expected to be featured by the LG G5 and we could also see an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies. Camera features will probably include optical image stabilization, laser autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection and, of course, HDR and panorama modes.Special features of the 2016 LG flagship may include Iris Eye Recognition Scanner, a fingerprint sensor for enhanced security, improved Touch ID fast charging. If all these rumors are accurate we might see a truly amazing LG flagship in 2016.

As far as prices go, the LG G5 could set customers back up to $900, so it definitely won’t be a smartphone that anyone can afford. If the G5 will be as impressive as it sounds according to the rumors, it might be worth this kind of money for many people, though. There are only a few months until the projected release date, so we’ll definitely hear more about this device in the upcoming weeks. We’ll keep you posted.
