The Asus ZenFone Max was first unveiled back in August 2015, and now it finally became available for preorders in India for INR 9,999 ($150). The smartphone is available for preorders on Amazon and Flipkart and it will be released on January 15 and 14 respectively. Even though it will be sold for an incredibly low price, the ZenFone Max will impress some people, if not with other features, with its 5000mAh battery, that will ensure a great battery life for the smartphone. The other specs and features of the smartphone are not that bad either, but it definitely isn’t a high-end smartphone and the price does indeed reflect its quality.
The Asus ZenFone Max has a 5.5-inch display with 720 x 1080 pixels resolution and 267 ppi pixel density. It’s certainly not the most impressive screen we’ve ever seen, but it will deliver good quality images and an overall good visual experience. The ZenFone’s display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4, so users won’t scratch it too easily. The body of the smartphone will not impress anyone, but to be honest, it has a nice, clean design that will neither impress people nor make a fool of the user.
The device is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset, clocked at 1.2GHz, an Adreno 306 GPU, and it includes 2GB of RAM and 8GB or 16GB of internal storage. Thanks to the microSD card slot featured by the smartphone, storage can be further extended by up to 128GB, so users won’t have to worry about not having enough space to store their music, videos, games, and other content. The Asus ZenFone Max runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, so users will be able to enjoy the Android experience they like. It unlikely for the ZenFone Max to receive the official Marshmallow update, but it is possible to see a CyanogenMod version of the operating system delivered to the smartphone sometime this year.
The smartphone sports a 13 MP, f/2.0, back camera with autofocus, dual-LED, dual-tone flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama mode and HDR. The camera will be able to capture great still images and record 1080p@30fps video. The front-facing camera of the device has a 5MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and it will be perfect for video calls and for selfies also. The resulting images will be clear and accurate, so users will be able to capture all the important moments of their lives with the cameras of the ZenFone Max. The most impressive feature of the smartphone is its 5000mAh battery which will ensure a great battery life for the device, so users won’t have to worry about running out of energy in the middle of the day.
The Asus ZenFone Max is definitely not a high-end smartphone, but it does have all the basic features and functions a regular smartphone could need, and it is extremely affordable for a price that is situated somewhere around $150. It is an extremely reliable smartphone thanks to its 5000mAh battery, so those who will opt to purchase the ZenFone Max will certainly have at least one feature to be impressed by in their smartphone.
