A great number of people are eagerly waiting for the Oculus Rift to be released and up until now we didn’t have too much information regarding the exact date when the device will actually hit the market. We still don’t know the launch date of the Oculus Rift, but at least now we know that on Wednesday, 8:00 AM Pacific Time preorders for the device will open. The announcement was made by Oculus trough a blog post on January 4, but there still is no information regarding the price of the device. All that was disclosed is that the company will be sharing everything customers need to know when preorders go live.
The virtual reality headset was announced in 2015, and back then it was said that the device will ship sometime in the first quarter of 2016, closely followed by the Oculus Touch motion controller that we now know will only arrive in the second half of the year because the manufacturer wants to perfect it. Given the fact that the Oculus controller won’t be available at the time of the Rift’s launch, the headset will initially come with an Xbox one controller. The VR headset bundled, according to Oculus, with Lucky’s Tale, by Playful, and the EVE: Valkyrie by CCP.
Even if the headset won’t be excessively expensive, potential customers should have in mind that the Rift won’t work with just any kind of computers. To be more precise, a computer that is able to work with the virtual reality headset will cost somewhere around $1000, so if you don’t have such a powerful computer or the budget to purchase one, there really is no point in preordering the Rift anytime soon. However, if you are a gamer that is willing to invest this kind of money in your hobby, then you really should consider preordering the Oculus Rift because it will definitely ensure a new and great experience.
