Microsoft is trying to popularize their search app, and they seem to be headed the right way. The number of searches on Bing from the USA has risen, and it could rise even more with the new version of Bing for iPhone. The new, redesigned version of the app is now available in the App Store and the tech giant promises their software will deliver a great user experience. It is now simpler and more efficient to use Bing as your main search app, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a growing interest in the app in the near future.
The new version of Bing is a lot different from the previous one. Its interface was completely overhauled, making it a lot more user- friendly and thus a lot more useful. When searching for a certain content the app is quick to deliver useful results, not limiting itself to a list of links or texts that will take you a lifetime to sort through in order to find what you are looking for. For example, if you are searching for a movie by its title, the app will show IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes ratings, and it will also offer you a number of apps through which users can buy or rents the movie they are searching for.
Another nice thing about Bing for iPhone is that it will launch the actual Netflix, Twitter, YouTube, or other apps when you click on their icons, instead of loading them within itself, like Google for iOS does, for example. This way you can get to your destination faster, saving you a lot of precious time. The app is really quick in its search, so you don’t have to wait a long time before you can get the content you are interested in. It finds images, maps, restaurants, bars in a blink of an eye, making this version of the app a lot more useful than its predecessor.
The Bing for iPhone can also scan barcodes really quickly, all users have to do is point their camera at a QR code or barcode and the app will instantly pull up results regarding the product the barcode belongs to. The functions of the app are similar to other search apps, but the new, user- friendly interface and the speed of the software could gain a number of followers for Microsoft.
For now, Bing v.6.0 is only available in the US and only for iPhone, but if Microsoft is really trying to make its search app more popular, we wouldn’t be surprised to see it on Android in the near future also. It could become a serious competitor for Google if they don’t reinvent their search app in the meantime.
