Skype Translator Erases Language Barriers

Microsoft- owned Skype announced the Skype Translator last year. Since Thursday, this feature was added to Skype for Desktop. Skype users now can communicate even if they don’t speak the same language. Skype Translator makes that possible. Language barriers are now history. The Skype Translator was first released as an application compatible with Windows 8, but is now available for every Skype for Desktop user.

The Skype Translator is able to translate live conversations in six languages at the time. These are English, French, German, Italian, Mandarin and Spanish. When it comes to text messaging via Skype, the Skype Translator can convert discussions in 50 languages. This way people who don’t speak the same language will be able to communicate fluently, without using dictionaries. It’s not only a lot more comfortable but also a lot quicker. The Skype Translator recognizes languages by comparing the audio with millions of sounds and corrects any colloquial expression. After that it translates the text into the required language. The translation shows up on both screens used and are read by the computer for voice calls.

At this stage Skype Translator is set to learn, so it is said to become more and more advanced as more people use the program. In order to get Skype Translator users have to follow only a few simple steps. First, they need to download Skype for Desktop with Translator and make sure that their audio and headset settings allow them to use the program. Then, after choosing a contact to call, they have to tap the Skype Translator icon, which is a little globe, and select the languages to use. In order to receive a quality translation users are advised to speak clearly and slowly, so that Skype Translator will recognize every word. Of course, there are still little flaws in the program, specially when it comes to person’s names, but those are quite small in comparison with the result that Skype translator offers. Skype Translator will work on Window 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 computers.

By using Skype Translator international business meetings through Skype won’t need translators. Also, people will be able to make friends all across the world, since the language barrier was eliminated by the Skype translator. We can’t wait for Skype Translator to add even more languages to their voice call option and to see how it will evolve in time.
